dudes! are you going to the guppy gala? we totally are! (and by "we," i mean "me and the girl," 'cause ain't no way the baby is going to stay up that late, not without a lot of ear-splitting screaming, anyway, and well, we don't want to scare the guppies.)
so. the guppy gala. it's at the national zoo, a place we don't get to nearly enough, and it promises to be a night of "tasty treats, silly songs, and fun!" and who doesn't like fun? (my mother, for one. joe once referred to her as "captain no-fun." that didn't go over well, but it was fun. which is probably why she didn't like it.)
anywho, it's at the zoo on friday, may 14th from 6-8:30 pm, and tickets are $25 for everyone 2 years old and older (unless you're a FONZ member, in which case, they're $15. yee-haw!). BUT if you are the lucky sort, you can win two tickets just by commenting* on this here blog. you are so lucky you read me.
*by noon EST this friday, 5/7/10. you must leave your email address in your comment, which should be either a) an amusing anecdote, b) a blush-worthy compliment, or c) a recipe for a fabulous summer cocktail. winner will be drawn at random by madeleine's picking a number out of a hat or otherwise similar container.

Sounds like a good time for all! The 14th is only 2 days past Sara's 5th b-day too! Sadly, I don't have any "recipes" as such, but I did just try Margaritaville Mango Margarita Mix yesterday and found it to be deeeelicious on the rocks with a generous helping of tequila. We can't go that night, but I did discover my new favorite cocktail -- Bacardi Razz mixed with pineapple and cranberry juice on ice. YUM! I tasted it at the Bacardi factory in San Juan when I was supposed to be attending a conference. ;)

An amusing anecdote eh? Hmmm... Well there was this one time...at band camp...No, no, no. I can't.
Don't mix Tylenol PM with a bottle of wine. You may mistake your closet for the bathroom. And you might not be as lucky as I to have a hubs who wakes up just in time to redirect you to the more appropriate water closet.
ooh, the 14th is the day after my birthday. So maybe I could talk my MIL into taking the boy to the zoo so Tom and I could have a date night if I win.
I totally need to try Suzanne's drink suggestion. My favorite summer drink though is Pimm's with Ginger Ale, with a few slices if cucumber if you're feeling especially fancy. I first had Pimm's at a beach bar on the coast of Kenya (the bar was literally carved into a coral rock formation with a sand floor).
